Abstract
This report is a descriptive analysis of data, along with statistical information, and provides a picture of the health status of the Māori population compared to non-Māori. Key indicators relate to the socio-economic determinants of health, risk and protective factors for health, health status, and health service utilisation. This monitoring report has been prepared by Public Health Intelligence and Te Kete Hauora (Māori Health Directorate) in the Ministry of Health. Risk and protective indicators utilised include nutrition, body weight, and physical activity. The chart book will be repeated every three years to monitor progress towards improving Māori health. The 2nd edition of this report was published in 2010.
