Abstract
This report was produced for the Ministry of Health. This review examines the extent of need in the Auckland region, in relation to nutrition and physical activity and their determinants. It draws on published information from district health boards, Auckland Regional Public Health Service, Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC), territorial authorities, and academic research. Four levels of analysis form the underlying structure of the main component of the report: individual health outcomes; individual contributory factors, family environments and community environments. The HEHA Strategy sets five key priorities for action: lower socioeconomic groups; children, young people and their family and whanau; environments; and communication. These overlay the four levels of analysis used in this report.
