Effects of total fat intake on bodyweight in children (Cochrane review)
originally posted by WM Admin on 18 February 2018 and updated 9 July 2018
In this Cochrane review, the authors assess the effects of total fat intake on measures of weight and body fatness in children and young people not aiming to lose weight.
They included 24 studies: three parallel-group randomised controlled trials (RCTs) (n = 1054 randomised) and 21 prospective analytical cohort studies (about 25,059 children completed). No meta-analyses were possible.
The authors were not able to reach firm conclusions and suggest that high-quality, longer-term studies are needed, that include low- and middle-income settings.
