In this systematic review and meta-analysis, the authors investigate the effects of exposure to weight control cues compared with control cues on food intake.
Data from 25 studies were available for the meta-analysis. Based on this data, the authors conclude from their analysis that weight control cues reduce food intake in individuals with strong weight control goals. They go on to say that further research could explore the longer term effects of cue exposure and confirm underlying mechanisms.
