Update of the Healthy Eating Index: HEI-2015

In this article, the authors introduce an updated Healthy Eating Index (HEI). The HEI is a measure for assessing whether a set of foods aligns with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA). The DGA are updated every 5 years, and an updated HEI is released to correspond to each new edition of the DGA.
The index is used to examine the association between diet quality and health outcomes, and to describe and evaluate food quality in the US.
