Taking action on childhood obesity (WHO)
posted by Research Admin on 1 October 2018
This document illustrates the progress being made on an agreed set of global targets for halting the increase in obesity in children and adolescents. Topics covered include the effects obesity, the role of early nutrition, taxes on sugar-sweetened beverages, labelling, monitoring childhood obesity, and physical activity.
The key messages are:
• While most countries are still off-track to meet the target, many are taking action and some have achieved a levelling-off in childhood obesity rates
• Investing in children’s health will help meet the global health targets and substantially reduce the predicted health and economic costs of obesity.
