The authors present and discuss recent data on dietary patterns and their effect on cardiovascular disease. “The physiologic pathways through which macro- and micronutrients affect metabolic health are presented, along with the effect of dietary composition on gut microbiome and how this is connected to different cardiometabolic outcomes.”
