In this randomised controlled study, a brief behavioural intervention was undertaken to prevent weight gain over the Christmas holiday period. The intervention encouraged adults to weigh themselves regularly, offering advice for weight management and information about the physical activity calorie equivalents of festive food and drinks. The authors found "cognitive restraint of eating was increased in the intervention group."
