Community-Wide Efforts to Improve the Consumer Food Environment and Physical Activity Resources in Rural Kentucky

This study assessed a community-based intervention aimed at improving access to healthy food and physical activity. The "Kentucky community project consisted of collaborating with grocery store managers to improve the consumer food environment and partnering with community members to improve walking trails, bicycle racks, and other physical activity resources." The researchers believe that involving the community in such initiatives has merit and potentially long-term positive awareness raising.
