This research assesses the feasibility of a New Zealand version of the Scottish Football Fans In Training program (FFIT). The Rugby Fans in Training-New Zealand (RUFIT-NZ) pilot program is a gender sensitized weight loss intervention for obese middle-aged men modelled on the FFIT and similarly delivered by professional rugby clubs. The results indicate "positive effects on weight and physiological outcomes, as well as adherence to lifestyle behaviors." Therefore, once participant recruitment, retention and acceptability, the intervention will go live.
