The authors outline the "The health kaupapa claim, WAI 2575, is a staged approach, challenging the Crown’s lack of action over long-standing health inequities." "But the devil lies in the detail – how has the system impacted on the lives of whânau, hapû and iwi? How has it affected Mâori health practitioners and Mâori providers who, daily, work within a racist health-care system? Much of the evidence presented tells these personal and political stories; of the human costs of inaction in the face of need."
