Getting to a healthy weight doesn’t have to mean losing a lot of weight. Taking off just 5% to 10%—10 to 20 pounds for a 200-pound person—can make a big difference in your health and well-being. But how do you shed the pounds and, more importantly, keep them off?

If you’ve previously gone on a diet and lost weight, only to gain it all back (often with a few extra pounds), you know how hard it is to make weight loss stick. And trying over and over again can leave you feeling pretty discouraged.
