Exploring the Views and Dietary Practices of Older People at Risk of Malnutrition and Their Carers: A Qualitative Study

This study explores older people and their carers' views on managing malnutrition; common amongst elderly community dwellers.

Results: "Older people at risk of malnutrition rarely recognise appetite or weight loss as a problem. Commonly held perceptions include that being thin is healthy and ‘snacking’ is unhealthy." They also found that nutritional knowledge was limited. However, trusted health professionals (e.g. GPs) are in a good position to deliver information and advice."
