The important role of charity in the welfare system for those who are food insecure

This study examines the impact of changes in the Australian welfare sustem during John Howard's regime and as a result of ongoing changes to the eligibility criteria. As a result of pressure on household food insecurity, many are now reliant on charities. The article discusses the rammifications of this "inexpensive policy alternative" to providing an adequate standard of living for welfare-dependent households.
