Abstract

This evaluation assesses a whānau/fanau-based health literacy pilot using 'navigator' support at two District Health Boards in Auckland, New Zealand. The support provided by navigators was shown to increase participants' confidence in dealing with the psychological impact of bariatric surgery. However, this model is contingent on leadership and staff buy in from the hospitals.
