Ethnic Disparities in Access to Publicly Funded Bariatric Surgery in South Auckland, New Zealand

This research investigates the intake of bariatric surgery patients in the ethnically diverse Counties Manukau Health, in order to identify any ethnic disparities. They found that the receipt of publicly funded bariatric surgery was significantly lower for Māori and Pacific peoples, in spite of the higher prevalence of obesity amongst these groups.
